This is a sampling of my work, photographs and drawings. Since I started seriously taking pictures (in 2003), I go everywhere with my digital camera. I'm always looking, taking in my surroundings, trying to really see everything. There's always interesting stuff going on, from a random flower on the sidewalk to an unexpected sunset as seen from the passenger window of a car. For those times when I can just take some time, hours sometimes, to look at something, there's nothing like drawing. Taking it in and somehow recreating it using just my hand and a pencil and paper. Seeing details I never would've noticed, understanding the world in a whole new way. Most of the time, we never bother to pay attention like this. But, as my embedded background quote says: life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Good point, there. Those wise words come from the '80s classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Somehow, it's become my philosophy in life. |
